(God's Outstanding Disciples) 5th
and 6th Grades
This active group meets monthly, usually Sundays, after church for lunch
and then
a time of fun, group building, service, worship, and exploration. The
GOD Group will be meeting on Sundays, September 16, October 14, November
18, and December 9 following worship. Any youth or adult who has an interest
in

FLY (First Lutheran Youth) 7th
- 12 grade youth
First Lutheran Youth (FLY) is ministry of, for, and by the Youth of First
Lutheran Church. FLY - it’s about faith, it’s about community,
it’s about having fun, it’s about walking with Jesus and with
each other. FLY - it’s about a place to come and be who you are

Activities and Events
FLY Sunday Afternoons – every
1st, 2nd, and 3rd Sunday
All 7th-12th grade youth will gather at 12:30 pm in the Fellowship
Hall (3rd floor) for a lunch and a time of singing, sharing, and
supporting one another. Then 7th-8th graders will head in one direction
and the high school group head in another for Bible studies, small
group discussions, service projects, and all sorts of fun and faith
building activities. See the Fall Schedule on the Youth bulleting

Wednesday Morning
Bible Study in Chesapeake
Every Wednesday morning high school youth are invited to gather for
a time of fellowship and a look at the scriptures. It’s a chance
to recharge your spiritual battery in the middle of the week. See
the Youth bulletin board for locations and times. Contact: Pastor

Youth Scholarship
Dinner, November 8th
The Youth Scholarship Dinner is one of FLY’s biggest events
of the year as youth serve and entertain the congregation and
ask for generous financial gifts for youth ministry. Planning
and preparing for the Youth Scholarship Dinners will begin in

Retreats for Youth
Our synod, conference, and congregation are committed to offering youth
many
opportunities to retreat with other youth. Thanks to the financial support
of
members of this congregation given through our annual Youth scholarship
Dinner,
First Lutheran Church is able to pay half of each youth’s registration
cost for most
events. Additional scholarship assistance is available upon request. Contact:

Council of Tidewater High School Service Blitz, September 27th
Gather with other 9th-12th grade youth from Lutheran churches throughout
Tidewater for a day of fellowship and community service. Sign up on

21st-23rd
The Virginia Synod’s weekend event for 7th-8th graders held
at Eagle Eyrie Retreat Center in Lynchburg, Virginia. An amazing
weekend that 7th and 8th graders don’t want to miss! Registration
